Let’s Go See the City - ANTM Contestants Meet Brazil’s Top Designers

America’s Next Top Model has headed to Brazil for the overseas location in season 12. Last week, the six remaining models became five as Natalie was sent back to California. Fo, Aminat, Allison, Teyona and Celia are excited to be the top five. Allison finds herself more nervous after having the best photo last week, because she feels more pressure to succeed.
Brazilian Go Sees
The models arrive at the headquarters for Brazilian Fashion Week and meet with the director, Paulo Borges. They are going to emulate a day in the life of a working model by heading out for five go sees. A go see is where a model visits a designer’s showroom with their portfolio to audition for work. Each girl is given a map of the locations and a taxi, but must be back at headquarters by 3:30.
Teyona and Aminat arrive back with time to spare, each having seen three designers. Allison arrives next and is barely on time, but she had time to see one more designer. Celia barely misses the deadline and Fo arrives last. Paulo Borges’ assistant takes Teyona, Aminat and Allison to meet him by helicopter, leaving Celia and Fo behind. Teyona wins the contest, and is given a piece from ever designer they saw.
Beach Photo Shoot with Judge Nigel Barker
A Tyra Mail suggests that Top Models get maximum exposure, and they immediately guess that they will be modeling bathing suits. Jay Manuel and Nigel Barker meet the models and tell them they will be wearing high fashion swimwear and need to stand out in a crowd. The bikini bottoms the girls wear are tiny and they shoot with a crowd of real people instead of other models.
Aminat goes first and Nigel quickly notices that she doesn’t seem in charge of her beauty, though she has the qualities of a top model. Fo is next and didn’t interact well with the rest of the people on set. Nigel found Allison to be a pleasant surprise on set because she moved around and became part of the scene. Teyona always proves that she can model and understands her angles. Celia is up last and has a difficult shoot because she practiced too much. Nigel actually steps onto the set to show her what he wants.
Judge’s Panel and Elimination
Tyra Banks, Nigel Barker, J. Alexander, and Paulina Porizkova are joined by guest judge Cris Barros, who is a Brazilian designer and former model. Teyona booked all three of the go sees and stood out in her photograph. Celia booked three of four castings but disappointed the judges on the photo shoot. Aminat is up next and the judges praise her body but not her presence on set. She booked 2 of 3 castings. Fo looked very short in her photograph and did not book any castings though she saw all five designers. Allison’s photo impressed the judges, though she only booked one of four go sees.
The judges deliberate and the models nervously return. Teyona’s name is called first, followed by Allison and Aminat. Both Fo and Celia have problems for the industry. At 25 years old, Celia is too old to begin modeling. Fo is much shorter than the other girls. Both of them need to model better than the rest of the girls to succeed. Celia’s picture is revealed and Fo is sent home.
