The 15th season of The Amazing Race continues in Estonia as teams solve a secret message, get muddy in the swamps, and two teams race each other to the pit stop.

In Episode 9 of The Amazing Race 15, titled “We’re Not Meant for the Swamp,” teams traveled to Tallinn, Estonia and solved a medieval message from a Secret Society. They also played volleyball in the muddy swamps. It all culminated with yet another dramatic showdown, as two teams raced each other on foot to the pit stop and got physical with one another. Here’s how it all went down:

Next Destination: Tallinn, Estonia

Departing from Bogs Gard Farm in Stockholm, Sweden, teams received a clue instructing them to travel 236 miles by ferry across the Baltic Sea to Tallinn, Estonia. Once there, they had to travel to a building that houses the Knights of the Blackheads, an Estonian Secret Society of merchants that has existed for at least 600 years, and figure out how to open the door using a ring of ten keys.

When teams reached the ferry terminal, they found that the next ferry did not operate until 5:45 in the afternoon. This time gap allowed all teams to catch up and board the same ferry. When they met each other at the terminal, brothers Sam and Dan and the Harlem Globetrotters both revived their rivalries with one another. Meanwhile, father/son Gary and Matt knew to expect a Speed Bump on this leg of the Race.

Roadblock: Solve Secret Message

When they arrived in Estonia, teams traveled by taxi to the Secret Society building. Meghan and Cheyne and Sam and Dan arrived at the same time and entered together. When they read their clues, they found that their next task was the Roadblock.

The clue asked “Who can solve a medieval mystery?” One team member had to descend into the cellar and find a candelabra with a room number attached to it. When they found the room, they were handed a blank scroll. They then had to hold that scroll over the lighted candle to make a message appear. The messaged revealed the location of their next clue, the Pikk Hermann Tower Gardens.

Both Sam and Cheyne initially had difficulty finding the rooms indicated on their candelabras. When “Flight Time” found his room, he started coloring his scroll with a crayon, not realizing he had to hold it up to the light. Cheyne, on the other hand, immediately figured out what to do. Ericka also decoded the message quickly. Sam was the next to solve it, while the Globetrotters left in fourth place.

Speed Bump: Saunabuss

While the other teams began the Roadblock, Gary and Matt had to complete the Speed Bump. They had to find a saunabuss, strip down, and take a five minute sauna with the locals. When they had sweated it out, they resumed the race. Although the Speed Bump was easy and fast, the father/son were already in last place.

To make matters worse, Matt couldn’t figure out what a candelabra was, which cost them even more valuable time. By the time Matt had solved the message, he and Gary were even further behind the others.

Pikk Hermann Tower Gardens

Teams retrieved their next clue at the gardens of the Pikk Hermann Tower. The clue gave them a choice between “Serve” or “Sling.”

Brian and Ericka and Meghan and Cheyne raced for a taxi and Meghan and Cheyne reached it first. Ericka became frustrated that Brian “let” them have the taxi, but he denied that he did so, claiming that they saw it first. As Meghan and Cheyne’s taxi driver offered to call Brian and Ericka a taxi, Meghan and Cheyne said not to worry about them.

As another taxi arrived, Sam and Dan and the Harlem Globetrotters raced for it. Sam said that another driver called a taxi for them, but the Globetrotters said this taxi belonged to them. Eventually, after a brief dispute, they decided to share it in order to avoid losing time.

When Matt and Gary finally arrived at the tower, they didn’t realize that they needed to find the garden, which cost them more time once again.

Detour: Serve or Sling

In “Serve,” teams had to make their way to the Estonian wetlands, called bogs, and play a round of mud volleyball. When they scored five points against locals, they received their next clue. In “Sling,” teams had to use a traditional sling shot and fire assorted vegetables at a moose target. When they hit it, they received their next clue.

Meghan and Cheyne struggled to play volleyball in the mud, but maintained their lead.

When teams completed the Detour, they received a clue instructing them to run to the next pit stop, Keava Raba Overlook Tower.

Sam and Dan and the Globetrotters arrived shortly after Meghan and Cheyne and both decided to “Serve” as well. Brian and Ericka had to do the “Sling” task because two teams were already playing volleyball. Sam and Dan and the Globetrotters struggled against the locals and “Big Easy” got stuck in the mud. Eventually, they began to score points one after the other. Although the Globetrotters were the first to score five points, they took time to get dressed and ran in the wrong direction, allowing Sam and Dan to get a lead on them.

As they both raced toward the pit stop, some elbowing and shoving occurred and both “Big Easy” and Dan tripped.

Meanwhile, Brian and Ericka hit the moose target and retrieved their next clue. By the time Matt and Gary arrived at the Detour, it was clear that they were last.

Ninth Pit Stop: Keava Raba Overlook Tower

Meghan and Cheyne were the first to check in after the Detour and won a red cedar sauna. The rest of the teams arrived in the following order:

2) Sam and Dan

3) “Flight Time” and “Big Easy”

4) Brian and Ericka

5) Gary and Matt (Eliminated)
