The 15th season of The Amazing Race continues in Dubai as one team member's meltdown at a waterslide leads to a showdown between two teams and a dramatic finish.

In Episode 6 of The Amazing Race 15, titled “Do It For The Hood, Do It For The Suburbs,” teams remained in the city of Dubai where they struggled with the sweltering heat and two difficult Detour tasks. One team member had a meltdown when she had to face her fears of water and heights, leading to one of the most dramatic finishes in Amazing Race history. Here’s how it all went down:

Teams Remain In Dubai

Departing from the fifth pit stop at Souk Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, teams received a clue instructing them to travel to the Dubai Creek Golf and Yacht Club, choose a briefcase, and search the boardwalk for their next clue.

Roadblock: Cracking The Code

At the Marina, one team member had to row an inflatable dinghy to a yacht and find a sheik, who would then give him/her a watch. The team member then had to take that watch back to the Marina and figure out that the time on the watch (8:35) was the code to open the briefcase.

Meghan and Cheyne arrived at the Marina first with a considerable lead over the other teams. Cheyne, who had previous rowing experience, quickly completed the task, while Brian struggled to row the dinghy. “Flight Time” and “Big Easy” got off to a slow start when their taxi driver took them to the wrong location. Gary, “Big Easy,” and Dan used their hands to row when they couldn’t figure out how the use the paddles correctly, while Tiffany had a strong showing for the women. Canaan had to complete the Roadblock due to Mika’s fear of water.

All of the teams except for the Harlem Globe Trotters quickly figured out the combination to their briefcases. “Big Easy” incorrectly misinterpreted the time on the clock and tried to enter 8 and 7, because the minute hand was on the 7 to correspond to the number “35.” Despite starting in third place, the Globe Trotters fell to last place.

When they opened their briefcases, teams received a clue instructing them to take a taxi to the Abra Station, a water-taxi port in the old section of Dubai.

Detour: Gold or Glass

Teams had a choice between two ancient materials: Gold or Glass. In Gold, teams had to find a jewelry store and use a precision scale to weigh out exactly $500,000 dollars worth of gold. In order to do so, they had to divide by the gold exchange rate shown on the monitor in the store, which was constantly fluctuating.

In Glass, teams had to find a spice market and choose a crate full of Middle-Eastern pipes known as hookahs. They then had to correctly assemble twelve hookahs.

Meghan and Cheyne chose Glass and put the hookahs together with some minor frustration. Brian and Ericka chose Gold and struggled to figure out how much gold was needed. After losing valuable time, they decided to switch tasks but found the other detour to be just as taxing. A flustered Ericka simply stood around and told Brian to figure out what was wrong.

Brothers Sam and Dan and poker players Tiffany and Maria both opted to do the Gold task. Sam and Dan had bought a $2.00 calculator before the Race, but couldn’t figure out the correct formula. They lent their calculator to Tiffany and Maria who easily calculated how much gold was needed. Thanks to this alliance, both teams were able to quickly complete the Detour.

Back at the Glass task, Matt felt like he was going to pass out due to the extreme heat. He sat down while his father Gary assembled the hookahs. Mika also left Canaan to do most of the work. Ericka and Brian finally figured out what they were missing and received their next clue. By this time, the Globe Trotters had arrived and decided to switch tasks after seeing how long it took Brian and Ericka. Meanwhile, Gary and Matt and Mika and Canaan correctly assembled their hookahs.

At the Gold task, “Flight Time” and “Big Easy” asked the store attendant for a calculator and quickly finished the task.

When teams received their next clue, they were instructed to make their way to Atlantis Resort, The Palm.

Atlantis Resort, The Palm

Teams had to search the water park for the Leap of Faith slide, a 6-storey plunge at an almost ninety-degree angle through a shark tank. They then had to find their next clue at the bottom of the slide.

Most teams expressed some apprehension due to their fears of heights or water, but the order of teams remained unchanged until Mika and Canaan arrived. Mika flipped out over the thought of going down the waterslide. Canaan tried to force her to sit down on but she refused and shouted “You can’t make me!” She continued to pout and waste time until the Globe Trotters arrived. “Flight Time” and “Big Easy” taunted her to increase her fears and prevent her from going down the slide. After a mandatory two-minute wait time was up, Mika and Canaan had no choice but to let the Globe Trotters go down the slide first.

The next clue instructed teams to search the grounds of the Atlantis Resort for Dolphin Bay Beach, their next pit stop.

Sixth Pit Stop: Dolphin Bay Beach

After leading the entire leg, Meghan and Cheyne were the first to arrive at the pit stop and won a personal water craft. The rest of the teams arrived in the following order:

2) Tiffany and Maria

3) Sam and Dan

4) Brian and Ericka

5) Gary and Matt

6) “Flight Time” and “Big Easy”

7) Mika and Canaan (Eliminated)

Mika refused to go down the waterslide, causing her and Canaan to be eliminated from the Race.
