On the May 6, 2009 episode of American Idol, 1 of 4 Voted Off, No Doubt, Paula Abdul and Daughtry performed. Also, the final four got their chance to rock out with this week’s mentor, Slash from Guns n’ Roses and Velvet Revolver. The night kicked off with a live performance from the final four. The group sang ACDC’s School’s Out, and for a change no one appeared to be lip synching.
Allison Iraheta Gets Feisty in Q and A
Ryan asked the four what it feels like to make it this far. Kris Allen said he is amazed to be here, and he feels blessed to still be around. Simon told him to cut the humble act.
Ryan asked Adam Lambert how he felt about this week’s theme. Adam said it was his favorite theme so far. He loved sing Led Zepplin, and he loved his outfit.
Danny Gokey was asked about his previous night’s high note. He said he thought he did well at the moment, but he listened to it after the show and couldn’t stop laughing. He felt it was his funniest moment on American Idol, and he told the audience his aunt had paused the scream and joked people were already making ring tones of it.
Ryan asked Allison Iraheta how she felt about the judges comments the night before. She said she didn’t want to disrespect anyone, but she couldn’t hold in her feisty side any longer.
The Performances
Paula showcased her new song I’m Just Here for the Music. The song was hot, the performance was showy and it is amazing she can still pull off the quick dance moves and tight outfits.
No Doubt performed their classic I’m Just a Girl. Gwen Stefani was in true No Doubt fashion, and it felt like we were all transported back to 1995.
Daughtry was the last to perform. Daughtry is headed by Chris Daughtry from American Idol season five. The band debut their new song No Surprise. The judges gave the group a standing ovation, and they were presented a plaque signifying the sale of over five million albums worldwide.
Allison Iraheta Eliminated
Kris was the first person sent to safety, and he was shocked. His comments weren’t fantastic last night, but Ryan did say the singers were being named safe in no particular order.
Adam was the second person named safe. This was no surprise since last night the judges had nothing but amazing things to say about Adam’s performance.
It came down to Danny and Allison, and Allison was sent home. Danny became the third member of the final three, and Allison sang her last song on the American Idol stage.
