2009 Celebrity Apprentice – Week 8Two Celebs Are Eliminated and Piers Morgan Makes a Guest Appearance
Joan Rivers and Annie Duke go head-to-head in selling jewelry for charity. The feud continues into the boardroom, as verbal attacks become personal.
As mentioned in the previous week, Piers Morgan joins the show to help Donald Trump keep an eye on the teams. He pops in on KOTU and is surprised that Herschel Walker and Clint Black are just sitting in the room, staring at the models for the jewelry show. At Athena, Piers asks the team members who will get “thrown under the bus” if they lose. They repeat Annie Duke's warning that whoever raises the least amount of money will go into the boardroom. Natalie Gulbis Calls Annie Duke's ContactsNatalie Gulbis, frustrated that her own contacts would not give her money, calls up a poker friend of Annie Duke's. Natalie thinks it will get Annie riled up, and she's right. However, she fails to think the plan through. Annie is warned about her plan from the very friend she tried to solicit, leaving Annie mad and Natalie without any money. One Team Shines at the AuctionAnnie acts as auctioneer for her team, and wows the crowd with her charm and poise. Her poker friends Andy Black and Perry Friedman are in the audience, as is Scott Ian, lead guitarist of Anthrax. Annie calls them out and they bid tens of thousands of dollars. Clint, on the other hand, turned the mood in the room sour with his auctioning abilities. He had the first item up for $20,000, and when no one bid he refused to come down and didn't sell the piece. He starts reading the wrong card on the next item, and Joan Rivers comes out to correct him. People finally start bidding and perking up. Joan Rivers Compares Annie Duke to HitlerIn the boardroom, Piers confronts Jesse James about he hasn't raised any money thus far. Jesse is married to Sandra Bullock, one of the best paid actresses in Hollywood after all! Jesse just shrugs off the question, but it's clear the pressure will be on him to perform during the next challenge. Ivanka Trump tells KOTU that the jewelry pieces they chose did not show up well on the runway. Then she asked if their team strategy to just sell one piece was a good idea, considering that she had donated the items for charity. Donald Trump asked why Joan didn’t call some of her celebrity friends. After all, she only raised $8,000. Trump asked Annie what her thoughts were, and she said it was disrespectful that Athena didn’t try and sell every piece. Joan starts calling Annie names, telling her that her ego is huge and slinging personal attacks. Joan compares Annie to Hitler. Record-Setting FundraisingIn the end, Joan and the rest of Team KOTU raised $92,000, most of which was raised through one piece. Annie and Team Athena raised $153,000. Annie receives $245,000 for her charity, Refugees International. The amount is a record for one week's fundraising on Celebrity Apprentice. Joan starts crying because she doesn’t anyone to be fired. Since Natalie picked the wrong pieces and didn’t raise any money, she goes home. Afterward, Annie asked Melissa why her mother had to get so personnel, and Melissa said she doesn’t control her mother. Melissa warns Joan before they go into the war room and warns her to keep her mouth shut. Annie tells Joan not to speak to her. Second Task for Schwan's Live SmartIn the second part of the episode, Trump greets the teams for an additional task in his dining room. The teams will work on a Schwan’s marketing campaign for their Live Smart brand. They will be judged on taste and originality, and are looking for something totally unique. The winning project manager will get $20,000 for his or her charity. Jesse volunteers to be Athena's project manager. He keeps Melissa with him to do marketing and sends Annie and Brande to do all the cooking. Brande is bothered by Annie and her constant talking. Herschel steps in for KOTU since Joan and Clint can't get along. He immediately settles on chicken breasts as the item to sell, and while Clint doesn't agree he decides to keep his mouth shut. Ginger Soy Chicken Versus Turkey MeatballsEven though Herschel gave the teams their tasks, Clint jumped in to make the chicken. He used a ginger and soy recipe from home, which Joan and Herschel said was way too salty. Joan suggests adding orange juice to it. Jesse tasted all three dishes that Annie made. While he liked the chili, the rest of the team talked him into presenting the meatballs and gluten-free pasta dish. Schwan's Executives Love One of the DishesThe Schwan's executives taste Athena's dish and think the gluten-free ingredients are very innovative. However, they lack a marketing campaign. On the other hand, KOTU's dessert would be hard to reproduce. Athena wins, and Jesse gets $20,000 for his charity. In the boardroom, Clint says he didn’t think they should have used the chicken because it wasn’t original. But he didn’t want to speak up because he’s been called argumentative. Trump asked Joan who to fire and she starts crying again. As the losing project manager, Herschel is fired. Next week: The teams create an ad campaign for Right Guard. The boardroom is the most emotional yet.
