2009 Celebrity Apprentice – Week 2Khloe Kardashian Leads Team Athena to Create Zappos Comic Character
Celebrity teams create a comic book character for the online retailer Zappos.com. One celebrity is voted off.
As the winning project manager last week, Joan Rivers gets to deliver a $126,000 check to her charity, God’s Love We Deliver. The charity helps clients who are sick and having a difficult time leaving their homes by delivering meals to those in need. Comic Book Character ChallengeDonald Trump greets the groups along with Erin Burnett from CNBC and Trump's son Don. He also introduces the CEO from Zappos.com and explains the next challenge: Each team will create a four-page comic character and costume. Trumps asks each team to choose their project managers, and this time Khloe Kardashian is chosen because she owns a clothing boutique. Scott Hamilton is chosen to lead the men's team. The winning group will receive $20,000 for their charity. Khloe Kardashian Emerges as Strong LeaderAs leader of Team Athena, Khloe Kardashian encourages her teammates to stop talking at the same time and focus on the task at hand. Joan Rivers and Annie Duke each want to write the script, and Annie wins the battle. Joan feels she would have been a better choice since she has written several award-winning scripts in the past. Scott Hamilton is Overwhelmed by KOTU MembersOver at Team KOTU, chaos is the rule of the day. Scott Hamilton doesn't seem to have a hold on his team, and Clint Black and Tom Green begin to dominate the discussions. Scott sits back while people yell and insult each other. Order from ChaosEach team gets an editor and artist from Image Comics to help work on their characters. As Don Trump checks in on the women, Melissa Rivers claims she came up with their concept of "Miss Z" when it was really Claudia Jordan. The women chose to have teammate Natalie Gulbis to wear their costume rather than a professional model. Erin Burnett checks in on the men's team and sees that they are unorganized and in turmoil. Scott Hamilton decides that the name of the character should be EEE, which stands for "everything, everywhere, every time." His teammates, especially Tom Green, disagree and think that they should use something with a "Z" for Zappos. Presentations Are Less Than PerfectThroughout the day, Tom interrupts Scott and Scott feels he is trying to purposely sabotage him. The team will not allow Tom to work on the script or the project. When it's time to present, however, they turn the reigns over to him. Claudia goes home early because she is sick. She asks to leave and Annie has a problem with it, but the rest of the team encourages her to go. As Claudia gives the presentation the next day, she fumbles quite a bit. The presentation is lackluster and awkward. At the end, Natalie complains about the costume in front of the client. Athena Scored a HitBoth teams had good and bad points to their presentation, but overall the client liked the fact that Team Athena played off the "Z" concept and focused on customer service. The women's team wins the challenge. Scott Relies on Hershel to Defend HimScott has to own up to the fact that he thought of the name for the character and it likely cost his team the win. He blames the loss on Tom, saying that he was disruptive throughout the challenge. Scott chooses to bring Hershel Walker and Tom Green back into the boardroom with him. Scott relies on Hershel to help defend his efforts as team leader. Hershel gives Scott props, but Trump tells him to leave the boardroom because he shouldn't be there. Tom says he wants to be the next project manager, and that Clint Black should have been brought back in instead of Hershel because Clint was disruptive. Tom points out that he and Scott are both survivors of testicular cancer he wants to get the most money for their charities. Scott is fired for this lack of leadership and poor choice in the character name. Next week: Tom Green goes head-to-head with Brande Roderick to sell wedding dresses.
